Homecoming 2009

Titan Pride was overflowing as Cal State Fullerton tipped-off Homecoming 2009 with a tailgate at the Historic Titan Gym on Saturday, March 7. More than 600 Titan alumni, students and friends participated in the celebration before heading to an intense men’s basketball game verses the UCI Anteaters.

The pre-game crowd enjoyed family-friendly festivities with lively entertainment by the Titan Pep Band, Dance Squad and Cheer Team. Young and old alike had their picture taken with the Geico Gecko, visited the balloon artist and caricaturist, romped in the bounce house, took a shot at the basketball toss and toured the new Student Recreation Center. All registered guests in attendance received a commemorative Homecoming ’09 t-shirt.

Associated Students and the Titan Tusk Force rallied the students this year by holding a week of Homecoming activities and hosting the inaugural Homecoming Dance. Thanks to the student effort, more than 300 students participated in the tailgate event and approximately 400 students attended the dance after the game.

The players and coaches of the former Titan Football program were also recognized during a special reunion before the game and were honored at half-time with a commemorative plaque that will hang in Titan Stadium.

After a heated game with an impressive turnout of more than 2,700 fans, the Titans were narrowly defeated by UCI. The Titan spirit will continue as the team moves on to the Big West Championship with Big West Player of the Year, Josh Akognon in the lead.
