Gayle Jacobe Olson-Binder ’77 (B.S. counseling) has been appointed by the Poway USD merit system Personnel Commissioner. Previously, she was a teacher, counselor, psychologist, administrator, ACSA State President for Student Services & Special Education then Retire Committee President.

Robert Shields ’17 (Ed.D. educational leadership) has been named associate dean for the Marketing and Analytics Division within the Dr. Robert K. Jabs School of Business at California Baptist University in Riverside. Prior to this role, he served as assistant director of CBU’s Teaching and Learning Center.

Lorraine Perez ’03, ’07 (B.A. liberal arts, M.S. education) has been named the next superintendent of Santa Ana Unified School District. A veteran educator with more than 20 years of experience, Perez currently serves as the district’s deputy superintendent of educational services.
Gayle Levine Olson-Binder ’76 (B.S. counseling) has retired after a 37-year career as a teacher, counselor, psychologist, administrator and CalSTRS retirement benefits counselor. She previously held positions as president of ASCA, president of Student Services/Special Education Council and was Administrator of the Year.
Marlon Blake ’19 (Ed.D. educational leadership) was promoted to associate dean of students and director of student diversity and inclusion services at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. He previously served as the university’s assistant dean of students.
Stefan Bean ’20 (Ed.D. educational leadership) was appointed Orange County’s 12th superintendent of schools. Most recently, he served as executive director of the Irvine International Academy and has dedicated the past 24 years to serving Southern California students as a teacher, principal and charter school administrator.
Lily Espinoza ’11 (Ed.D. educational leadership) has recently published a new book called Centering Pura Vida. It chronicles her 20-year career working in education with diverse students of color student support programs.
