Kim Braswell ’99 (B.A. liberal studies) was appointed principal of Rowland Avenue Elementary in the Covina-Valley Unified School District. She previously served as interim principal at J. Marion Roynon Elementary School and assistant principal at Ramona Middle School in the Bonita Unified School District.
Timothy P. Lattimer ’81, ’90 (B.A. economics, M.S. environmental studies) was appointed administrator of the Office of Community Sustainability in Howard County. He formerly served as a career diplomat in the U.S. Department of State’s Global Change, where he took part in the Paris Agreement on climate change in 2015.
Aisha Rivera ’18 (B.A. psychology, theatre arts) was appointed Napa County Poet Laureate by the Napa County Board of Supervisors. In this role, Rivera will promote poetry, develop meaningful connections with the community and undertake projects that make poetry more accessible to people in their everyday lives.
Tom Knego ’83 (B.A. political science) recently retired after a long career in the field of health care law, where he was a partner in a Los Angeles law firm and subsequently senior deputy counsel for United Health. He now teaches health care law at Cal State Long Beach and serves on various nonprofit boards.

With over 20 years of experience in the industry, he strategizes and implements 36-degree catalog media campaigns for diverse artists, including frontline album releases.
Steven Combre ’93 (B.A. criminal justice), was appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom as assistant deputy director of security and law enforcement for the California State Lottery. Combre has more than 28 years of experience in the field law enforcement.

Paul Carter’s ’92 (B.A. political science) biography “Richard Nixon: California’s Native Son” is set for release by Potomac Books on September 1, 2023. Nixon’s daughter, Tricia Nixon Cox, wrote the foreword. Carter is a partner in the firm Bergkvist, Bergkvist & Carter LLP in Long Beach.
TJ Landig ’06 (B.A. political science and American studies) was promoted to senior vice president of marketing at Warner Records. Throughout his 16-year tenure at the label, Landig has handled campaigns for breakout star Joji’s double-platinum hit “Glimpse of Us,” Top 5 album “Smithereens” and Mac Miller’s double-platinum album “Swimming.”
