Matthew Libatique ’92 (B.A. communications-radio/TV/film) received the Franklin J. Schaffner Medal at the 2024 American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony. Paul Carter’s ’92 (B.A. political science) biography “Richard Nixon: California’s Native Son” is set for release by Potomac Books on September 1, 2023. Nixon’s daughter, Tricia Nixon Cox, wrote the foreword. Carter is a partner in the firm Bergkvist, Bergkvist & Carter LLP in Long Beach.
Mark Prestwich ’92 (B.A. political science) was appointed city manager of Hemet. Prestwich has more than 25 years of municipal management experience, previously serving as city manager of Palos Verdes Estates, Saint Helena and Nevada City.
Forrest Smith ’92 (B.A. communications-public relations) was named assistant fire chief for the Mesa Fire and Medical Department in Arizona. Smith joined the department in 1999, rising through the ranks of firefighter/paramedic, captain/paramedic and deputy chief.
Mark T. Prestwich ’92 (B.A. political science) was appointed city manager for Palos Verdes Estates in February. He previously served as city manager of St. Helena in Napa County.
